Why the Trumpet as profesional Career

Many people could think that a such important decision as being a professional musician is a very meditated decision. But no in my case. Throughout the last years in schooll (contrary to some logics), nothing was in my mind respect to a university career. Maybe i could be a geographer, but no, actually im a musician. Why?
In the 4 years of secondary schooll, all of us are prepared to apply to universities by PSU. Some classmates started the "pre-university schooll" (a legal robbery) in the third year, other ones in second year and even, some ones started it in first year. I've never did that; instead, i only do the sufficient efforts to pass the class but never was on my goals to be a prominent student.
In my very early child, my dream was being a Vet, because i like animals, especially cats, so, in my little world, the decision seems to be clear.
Then, in some moment, engineering  became a interesting topic, because machines, gears and all these kind of things -to me- was already magic. Apparently the decision was definitive. BUT NO AGAIN.
In some moment, about 2007, i decided to move to La Serena and apply to the music school of the city to play the trumpet, until now. And it was the right choose
The music allows to know so many things: people, personalities, cities, places, and even more music!
Breaking the old fashioned belief, being a musician is a very good source of job (only if you do it well). If you became a responsable (punctual, prepared), surely you will get your agenda already collapsed!

Post 10: Final Thoughts

Finally, after a veeeeeery busy couple of months of the hardest musical work that i've lived with many musicians of Venezuela with they top musical referent, Gustavo Dudamel as musical director, Gernamy, U.S., Austria and many others top musicians of the greatest orchestras in the world, the only thing that i can say is what i'm totally tired and even now i can't feel totally recovered. Anyway, that was the cuspid of a year full of music opportunities (although we are in the middle of the year) in which -i have to admit- i left the university a little aside because i take (maybe, just maybe) more freelance works in another cities than i could coordintate with the university.
After nine months of this year, putting aside the musical aspects of the year, in health terms was very strange, because one day i tear my left eardrum after a concert week, so, because that i was deaf for already one month. That was a critical moment in my career because i believed that i was finished and all was over. The strike only contributed to get worse my moment. After a month, my ear was recovered after a very negative diagnosis, but the bad musical moment remains, even when i have to play every day for 1 and a half month. There is no body that could resist well that charge. The good thing is that remains a half of the year to recover, to change many thinkings and go ahead for many things that soon will come.

An Autobiography.

Little bio of Gustavo:

Gustavo Oliveros Maluenda (sometimes known as "gustav") was born in La Serena in november 24th, 1996. He is the only child of a little family composed by only his mother and himself.

In his very early childhood, he growth in the little city of Ovalle, near La Serena, he was very curious about his surrounding world and things like machines or plants and animals, so he learned to read about 3 or 4 years old.

After a few years at the elementary school, in 2007 he decided to return to La Serena to began his musical studies in the "Jorge Peña Hen" Experimental Musical School, where he started to play the trumpet until today. Also here began his interest by photography, which is a very important complementary activity for him, because "not all is music" 


Once he finished the secondary in the same school, in 2014, he -again- decided to move to Santiago to apply for a place in the University of Chile, where he was accepted in the Javier Contreras' trumpet class and after 3 years he moved to the Eugene's King class. 

Since 2015 he plays in different places and bands/symphonic orchestras and since 2016 he plays in the national youth symphony orchestra, where he occupies the First Trumpet chair. Also -sometimes- he is called to play in the Santiago's philharmonic Orchestra, like in the 2017 where he was called two times to play a extra-role in operas.

Actually he curses 6th year of his university career (or 2nd year of pregrade for the burocratics haha) and he graduation expected date is in 2022, but no one knows about the future.
